Provide Dave’s Roofing with your Insurance Agent’s name, contact information and your insurance policy number. We attempt to file the claim on your behalf; however, most insurance companies prefer the homeowner file the claim directly. If this is the case, ask your Agent to have the Insurance Adjuster schedule an appointment to inspect the roof. Typically, the adjuster will inspect your roof within 5 – 7 days after filing the claim.
The Insurance Adjuster contacts you to make an appointment to inspect the roof. After you set the date and time for the inspection, contact Dave’s Roofing to provide the adjuster’s name and contact information. In most cases, once the insurance claim is approved, the homeowner will receive a check for an estimated 50% of the claim.
If you have a mortgage on your home, the first check will be made out to the homeowner and the Mortgage Company. Contact your Mortgage Company and ask for the Insurance Department or the Loss Draft Department for details on their process to get the first check endorsed. DO NOT sign the check until it comes back from the Mortgage Company in case the check gets lost in the mail.
We have assisted dozens of homeowners complete the roofing replacement insurance process. Any credible roofing company should agree to do the installation for the amount that the insurance company agrees to pay plus your deductible. If a company is willing to do the job for less, especially in cases requiring a large amount of work, then it is most likely a sign that they are forced to sell on price alone – this situation is usually an indication of quality or cash-flow problems. If anyone suggests that you “make money” on the roof installation, do not take their advice – this is Insurance Fraud. Due to heavy losses in the past 2 years, Insurance Companies are heavily monitoring all claims to protect themselves and their policyholders.
Contact Dave’s Roofing when you receive your first check from the Mortgage Company. The first check is due as down payment when material arrives at the job site. We then confirm that the materials are correct and verify the shingle color and drip edge color.
Upon completion, we do a final inspection on the job and go over the checklist with you. Please note any items that need attention and sign the final inspection checklist. If your Mortgage Company has requested a final inspection, this will be the time to contact them to schedule the inspection.
The final bill will be faxed or mailed directly to your insurance company and a copy will be sent to the homeowner. Upon receipt of the final insurance check, the invoice is due. Please contact Dave’s Roofing to schedule final payment.
(Note: Most insurance claims for roofing occur from wind storms and fallen trees during storms. Call Dave’s Roofing, LLC in these emergency situations to cover the roof to prevent further water intrusion and for repair of new roof estimates. These are the seven typical steps to filing your roof replacement insurance claim.)
